Was für eine Riesenüberraschung.



What for a giant surprise.

Usually, you get in an Express by Holiday Inn breakfast to make you full and let you survive the day. Next time I am booking here to have breakfast and as the add-on to stay here overnight. Only fresh fruits and vegetables were missing.



Normalerweise bekommt man in einem Express by Holiday Inn ein Frühstück, damit man satt wird und überlebt. Hier würde ich ja schon das nächste Mal buchen, um zu frühstücken und nebenbei zu übernachten. Es fehlten wirklich nur frische Früchte und Gemüse um richtig glücklich zu werden.

Und wenn man genauso nett zu den Bedienungen war, wie sie zu uns als Gäste, bekam man auch so einen Cappucino.



If you were as kind to the waitress as she was to you as a guest you got such a Cappucino as well.

The weather does not look very promising. It should rain. But we decided to have our jackets with us. It should become better in the afternoon.



Das Wetter sieht nicht vielversprechend aus. Es soll regnen. Trotzdem verzichten wir auf Jacken. Nachmittags soll es besser werden.

Die Baustelle von gestern ist schon so weit fort, dass wir unter der Brücke durchlaufen können.



The yesterday's construction site moved and so we could walk under the bridge.

Now we made acquaintance with a different type of ticket machine who also speaks English but only accepted cards. I prefer English as the German translation is very lousy.



Wir lernen einen anderen Typ Automaten kennen, der auch Englisch und Deutsch kann, aber nur Karten annimmt. Ich ziehe Englisch vor, da die deutsche Übersetzung grottenschlecht ist.

Man kann hier Fahrkarten kreuz und quer kaufen und zwei Monate im Voraus. Aber wir fahren heute: 05/10/2010.

There is no fixed seat assignment for regional trains. So we just take the next connection 9.15 - 9.28.

Wir sammeln auch keine italienischen BahnBonus bzw. BahnComfort-Punkte.



No, we are not participating to an Italian Loyalty programme of the Italian Railways.

We should insert the credit card and take out immediately.



Wir sollen die Kreditkarte einführen und gleich rausziehen.

Dann warten wir... und warten... der Automat ist leider gestört. Aber später in Roma Termini funktioniert er sehr gut.



And we waited... and waited... unfortunately the machine had a malfunction. But later in Roma Termini, it worked pretty well.

So we bought all the tickets we need days later. When using the regional trains, the cards are valid six hours after cancellation/validation. So it does not matter which train you booked.



So haben wir schon mal die Karten gekauft, die wir einige Tage später brauchen. Im Regionalverkehr gelten die Karten sechs Stunden ab Entwertung. So spielte es keine Rolle, welchen Zug wir gebucht haben.

Nun brauchen wir trotzdem Fahrkarten, also können wir nur eine Verbundkarte kaufen, die auch für Busse gilt, obwohl wir ja unseren Roma Pass haben.



But we still need to have tickets so we can only buy an integrated ticket which is valid for the buses as well although we have our Roma Pass.

But it was not too bad for our budget: 1.00 EUR instead of 0.90 EUR for the train ride only-ticket.



Es hat aber nicht besonders unser Budget gesprengt: 1,00 EUR statt 0,90 EUR für die reine Bahnfahrt.

Wir steigen also in die Bahn ein, die uns sonst nach Civitavecchia bringen würde.



So we used the train which should take us to Civitavecchia.

After three days we really appreciate the comfort, maintenance, and cleaning of the regional trains in Germany.



Nach drei Tagen Trenitalia wissen wir aber endlich den Komfort, die Pflege und die Sauberkeit der Regionalzüge der Deutschen Bahn richtig zu schätzen.

Es gibt sogar einen Rollstuhllift im Zug.
