Tag/Day 1.1 auf der/on GRAND PRINCESS in Southampton, England

Als wir morgens aufwachen, sehen wir zum Flughafen und schönes Wetter. Bloß das Fenster läßt sich leider nicht öffnen, um frische Luft reinzulassen.



When we waked up we saw over to the airport and nice weather. Unfortunately, it was impossible to open the windows and have some fresh air.

While we stayed at Holiday Inn Express in Edinburgh, we were quite disappointed with their breakfast offer, but you got here much more.



Während wir ja im Holiday Inn Express in Edinburgh etwas vom Frühstücksangebot enttäuscht waren, gab es hier doch sehr viel mehr.

Und wie auf dem Schiff: besseren Kaffee gibt es gegen Zuzahlung.



Like on the ship: you get better coffee against extra fee.

So Bruno got his Cappucino XL.



So bekommt Bruno schon mal eine große Tasse Cappucino.

Gestern Abend im Shuttle von Europcar lief so laut "Lady Marmelade", so dass ich mich an einem Toast mit der typisch-englischen bitter-süßen Orangenmarmelade abreagiere. "Voulez-vous coucher avec moi - ce soir???..."



Last night on Europcar's shuttle they broadcasted "Lady Marmelade" very very loud so need to calm down by eating a typical English bitter-sweet orange marmalade: "Voulez-vous coucher avec moi - ce soir???..."

By the way, you can choose two of these options yourself.



Übrigens zwei von diesen Optionen kann man sich selbst aussuchen.

Direkt am Hotel fährt auch der Hotel Hoppa zum Flughafen Heathrow (Linie H5). Beim Busfahrer kostet die Fahrt 4,50 GBP, aber im Hotel steht auch ein Fahrkartenautomat. Dann sind es nur 4,00 GBP.



You can get directly from the hotel to Heathrow Airport by Hotel Hoppa (Route H5). You pay with the driver 4.50 GBP, but you find a ticket machine in the hotel too. Then you only pay 4.00 GBP.

Very convenient: just opposite the hotel there is a gas station and an ATM from HSBC.



Äußerst praktisch: gegenüber vom Hotel ist eine Tankstelle und ein Geldautomat von HSBC.

Wir durften uns wieder selbst einen Wagen aussuchen. Also haben wir einen Peugeot 3008 genommen.



We were allowed to choose ourselves a car. So we picked a Peugeot 3008.

Very nice: the tailboard.



Sehr schön: die Ladeklappe.

Weniger schön: als wir im Auto saßen fängt es an zu regnen.



Less nice: once we were sitting in the car it started to rain.

Originally we planned to come by our own car. But parking at the terminal is not very cheap. Here you find an alternative behind secured fences.



Ursprünglich hatten wir geplant u. U. selbst mit dem Auto zu fahren. Doch direkt am Terminal parken ist nicht gerade billig. Hier ist die Alternative, die schön eingezäunt ist:

Southampton Cruise Parking - liegt etwas versteckt in Marchwood auf der anderen Flußseite. Sollte man unbedingt mit Navi hinfahren, da Schilder erst fast am Schluss kommen.



Southampton Cruise Parking - is located somehow a little hidden on the other side of the river. You should use your GPS as signposts were placed just before you arrive there.

But it has the significant advantage of public access to the water, and you can take pictures.



Dafür hat es den Vorteil, dass man hier freizugänglich zum Wasser und fotografieren kann.

Arme GRAND PRINCESS. Irgendwie sieht sie aus, als ob man sie "kastriert" hätte. Irgendwie fehlt der "Einkaufswagengriff".



Poor GRAND PRINCESS. Somehow it looked that she was "castrated". Somehow I am missing the "shopping cart handle".









INDEPENDENCE OF THE SEAS was in port too.



Im Hafen liegt auch die INDEPENDENCE OF THE SEAS.

Wir waren ja mal darauf gebucht und haben uns ja auf der NAVIGATOR OF THE SEAS sehr über RCI und deren Reaktion geärgert. Die Folge war, dass wir vorerst keine Lust mehr hatten und unsere Anzahlung einfach unserer Louise von Thomas Cook geschenkt haben, bevor wir die Stornogebühr zahlen.



We were booked on her, but we did not like the performance on NAVIGATOR OF THE SEAS and the later reaction. The consequence was that we did not like to go anymore and gave away our deposit to Louise from Thomas Cook before we had to pay the cancellation fee.

Next there was a small repair shipyard. I asked if they will allow me to go to their pier to make better pictures and I was approved.



Nebenan ist noch eine kleine Ausbesserungswerft. Ich frage nach, ob ich bis an ihr Pier laufen darf, um noch bessere Aufnahmen zu machen. Und ich darf.

Später machen wir noch von der Fähre nach Hythe noch diese Aufnahmen.

Und wie man hier schön sieht: Es ist Southampton Boat Show.

Daher ist nicht nur auf den Straßen viel los, sondern auch auf dem Wasser.



So it was not only busy on the roads but also on the water.

Finally there was OCEANA of P&O in town.



Ferner ist noch die OCEANA von P&O in der Stadt.
