Tag/Day 16.1 nach der/after DIAMOND PRINCESS in Yokohama, Japan

Waking up, taking a shower and simply heading for breakfast. We booked a room without breakfast. Since I did not eat so much anymore, it was not worth to book a breakfast buffet for a lot of money. So we walked out. Yesterday it was all full. But this area was only reserved for couples who need consultation for their wedding plans.

There was not only one consultant but an army.

 border=0

 border=0

Very nice were all the flower arrangements.

Very lovely like in most part of Asia: complimentary water.

 border=0

 border=0

We could count on the service of the concierge in Yokohama too: Haruka. She could get us a Jumbo-Taxi, but she told us that it would be cheaper for us to allocate us to multiple taxis.

We were early in the morning on our ways: finding breakfast and making reservations for the trains. It was strange somehow when we started at the hotel, it was very calm outside. Nearly unreally quiet. From one second to the next a stream of masses came on towards. It was also difficult to cross the streams.

Fast unwirklich still.

 border=0

Café de Crié.

No need to have Japanese language skills to order here.

 border=0

 border=0

I loved the soft-sandwiches.

It was so warm that I started with a cold macha-tea with ice-cream in the morning.

 border=0

 border=0

But Bruno did not like the sandwiches because you could not see that the egg-mayonnaise-spread should not be called as egg-sandwich.

Because our voyage was during the so-called "Golden Week" when half of Japan was traveling, we would like to have some reservations. So we walked to the Sakuragicho Station.

 border=0

 border=0

We found the counter quickly but without presentation of all tickets you could not get any seat assignments.

For wasting time to find the way we got outside a "Monster"-drink to have the energy for the way back.

 border=0

 border=0

After he was not excited of the breakfast, we tried it again with Café Pronto.

Here they had Illy Coffee and pastry from Brioche Dorée from France. So his world was beautiful again.

 border=0

Mist.

 border=0

Here they also had a Snoopy Town Shop. It was open at 11:00 hrs. Too bad.

Snoopy!!!

 border=0

Snoopy!!!

Wie bekomme ich den Riesen-Snoopy nach Hause?

 border=0

How would I get this giant Snoopy home?

This would become my worldwide most favorite subway station.

 border=0

 border=0

Here I loved to go down. The others booked with breakfast in the hotel. I was sure it was good. But I preferred to discover the world here in the Queen's Square.

This time we need to get in the opposite direction towards Yokohama Station.

 border=0

 border=0

We needed to pay attention since this line will continue as a different line once arriving in Yokohama.

We could not get off at the terminal station.

 border=0

We changed from the subway to the commuter train section. I loved the poster with the fortress and all the cherry blossoms. I had to go there. Also very practical was the Refresh-Bar where you could have a cup of coffee while someone was making you more beautiful. Here we could manage it to get the reservations for our train rides. And it was documented very well. It did not work without being stamped.

We needed to get to the Shonan Shinjuku Line of JR East. In 28 minutes we would get to Shibuya. Some masses left the train, but more were entering the train. The today's youth did not vacate their seats for older. Either they were sleeping because they did not get enough sleep, or they were doing their homework, or they were watching porns. So highly concentrated that he would vacate his seats for older ladies. None saw the need to leave.

Ankunft in Shibuya.

Arriving in Shibuya. Due to lack of space, the platforms were not set up side by side but behind each other. That would mean long ways to walk. So we had to boost on the platform. Here they offered fresh juices. It was a specific reason to be here: the movie "Hachiko - A Dog's Tale" with Richard Gere in a new movie version. The original was from Japan and Hachiko was really existing. When I read that the statue was here at Shibuya Station, I needed to come here. But it was not just me here but half of the world. I the tourist information you could get some explanations on Hachiko. And so we were breathing the smell of the Streets of Tokyo because we were here in one of their shopping districts.

With the world-famous circle commuter train after the Berlin, Germany example: the green Yamanote-Line took us for two stops to Shinjuku. If you love the trouble, it was a cheap way to see around in Tokyo. Very hot: the sports shoes by Hermes, the Messenger God...

 border=0

Shinjuku was not just a stop of JR East but also of Odakyu-Railways.

Here we could get information on the trip to Fuji-Hakone-Izu-National Park.

 border=0

 border=0

And here you could buy the Hakone Free Pass which would allow you to use public transport in the area. I wanted to do the round again with the bus, the ship, the cable-cars and the rope car-line but it did not look like that I could not find again the circle this time. Two cable-cars formed one line, but one section of the Hakone Ropeway was closed again.

So we went here again for lunch before the lunchtime started for all the employees. I suggested eating at the Brilliant Café on the 11th floor of the Odokyo Department Store. Here we could enjoy the great outlook. Here you could get something for everyone and for Tokyo it was not too overpriced.

Shinjuku was somehow very confusing to find the right subway. We bought a day pass for Metro Tokyo at one subway station (600 JPY (2016)).

I had some so-called Suica-cards which worked the same way like the Octopus-card in Hong Kong. I gave them other cruisers. They did not understand how they were working and did not return the cards but destroyed them. I did not want to buy a new one. The advantage was that you could use the Suica-cards for all companies. And here we found out that our ticket for Tokyo Metro did not work for all subway lines which were on the network map. Four routes were run by the private owned Toei-Lines unless we bought the more expensive day pass which was valid for both companies (1,000 JPY (2016)). Together it was the Tokyo Subway System.

 border=0

I needed not to see so much. I was many times before in Tokyo. Bruno did not know Tokyo and some of the groups either. But sometimes you needed to pay the respect to the weakest member of the group and re-arrange everything. So we took off Raponggi off the tour. And walked to Tokyo Metro's Marunouchi Line.

We got in Shinjuku.

 border=0

Wir steigen in Shinjuku ein.

Und wir steigen in Ginza wieder aus.

 border=0

We got off in Ginza again off.

Ginza was the most popular and noble shopping district in Tokyo. Famous from the news, radio, and tv. Finally, I could experience one traffic signal for pedestrians which allowed you to walk in all directions and so I walked diagonally when it showed the green traffic signal.

We went into the Mitsukoshi Department Store. Here you found everything from the world. Before you also had Mitsukoshi in Berlin, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt and Munich, Germany. But you could still find them in Orlando, FL.

In the food department, I had a real pleasant surprise. I knew Holländische Kakao-Stube (Dutch Hot Chocolate-room) from Hanover, Germany. Many times I came from Goslar, Germany, where I worked before and to have some specialties like Baiser-Cake Rhine-area style (Ice-Cream Cake). I bought it for some Goslar friends... and carried it in an ice-cold car... In future, they would get only packed cake from a big manufactury from a supermarket. Another specialty was Baumkuchen (Tree cake). Every Japanese liked it. Here they were preparing some with the original recipe from Hanover. So we bought some Baumkuchen for our Japanese friends, and we could convince the others of the quality and the taste of Baumkuchen. We were not the only one who bought it. I found it better than the Salzwedel one which was the capital of Baumkuchen...
