Es gab wieder Probleme mit dem Ausloggen. Manchmal konnte man einfach nicht ausloggen, auch wenn man auf den richtigen Knopf gedrückt hat.



They had again problems with logging out. Sometimes you could not log out even you pushed the right key.

Auf der Theke steht ein Schild, das noch von gestern Abend hier hängt, dass er krankheitsbedingt nicht da sein wird.

Die Unterlagen für die Einreise nach Hongkong sind da. Wir müssen nur unterschreiben. Alles andere ist bereits für uns ausgefüllt.

Well. Precautionary they informed that they would work on the air-condition, just in case we would stay onboard.



Aha. Vorsorglich bekommen wir die Information, dass sie an der Klimaanlage arbeiten, falls wir an Bord bleiben.

Aha: hier wird nochmals bestätigt, dass wir die Visa-Beschaffungsgebühren nicht erhoben werden und nur die Visakosten selbst weiterbelastet werden.



Wonderful: they confirmed again that they would not charge for the administration fee but only charge the visa fee itself.

They offered two complimentary shuttle buses.



Es werden zwei kostenlose Shuttle Busse angeboten.

Beim Aqua-Jogging merke ich morgens, dass wir einen stärkeren Wellengang haben, als sonst. Selbst mein Badepantoffel treibt später im Pool.



When I was doing aqua-jogging in the morning, I noticed that we had more sea-movement than we usually had. Even my slipper was floating in the pool.

Kurz an der Atrium Bar vorbei zum Kaffeekaufen. Aber hier gibt es mehr als nur Kaffee.



We passed quickly by the Atrium Bar to buy some coffee. But they offered more than only coffee.

Today I had luck when I saw the front desk: Mako.



Heute habe ich Glück an der Rezeption: Mako.

Ein Zeichen, wenn ich eigentlich Service genieße: ich brauche jede Menge 1-Dollar-Noten zum Tippen. Bei Princess gibt es keine Belege zum Unterschreiben. So kann man nichts darauf buchen. Als ich an die Rezeption kam und um 1-Dollar-Noten wollte, meinte die erste, dass sie keine hat und wandte sich an die nächste. Sie hatte auch keine. Und der nächste auch nicht. Man kommt sich vor in einem Kasperl-Theater. Erst Mako meinte dann: "Sir, bitte kommen Sie zu mir. Sie bekommen welche von mir". Sie ist dann auch die einzige von der Rezeption die Basler Läckerli abbekommt.



One sign, that I em enjoying the service onboard: my use of 1-USD-bills for tipping. Princess had to receipts to sign. So you could not add any tips. When I came to the front desk and asked for 1-USD-billed, the first agent said, that she had none and addressed to the second agent. She had none either. And the next representative did not have any either. It was like a Punch and Judy-Show. It was Mako who said „Sir, please come and see me. You could get some from me.“. She was the only person from the reception desk who got some Basle delights.

The had one box to praise - but they had no box to criticize.



Es gibt extra eine Box zum Loben - nur keine Box für Kritik.

Es geht zum Frühstück. Bruno versucht ein hart-gekochtes Ei zu bestellen. Das gelingt wieder nicht: 1. als Pärchen, 2. wieder viel zu heiß und nicht abgeschreckt und 3. wieder nicht hart genug. Wir erfahren hier, dass es in der Galley keine Eierkocher gibt, die sich akustisch melden, wenn die Eier hart sind. Jay und Randy nehmen sich aber die Zeit, um Bruno perfekte hartgekochte Eier zu servieren.



We were heading for breakfast. Bruno tried to order a hard-boiled egg. It did not work again: 1. they came as a couple, 2. again it was too hot, and not rinsed with cold water, and 3. not hard enough again. We learned here that they had no egg-boiler in the galley which would call once the eggs would be hard Jay and Randy took the time, to serve Bruno a perfect hard-boiled egg.

It was quite common that the crew had to rotate. So we had in The Sanctuary a partial rotation. Ni Komang was now new in the team and I Putu Agus had to do something different. We used the nice MP3-player and headsets to relax a little. Always somehow sad: while we were resting we could see the crew working. Thankfully we had the earphones to avoid the noises from the transmission from the sports events.



Es ist wohl üblich, dass die Crew rotiert. So findet bei uns in The Sanctuary eine Teilrotation statt. Ni Komang ist jetzt neu im Team und dafür muss I Putu Agus etwas anderes machen. Wir nutzen auch die schönen MP3-Player und Kopfhörer, um uns hier zu entspannen. Immer etwas traurig: während wir relaxen gucken wir der Crew bei der Arbeit zu. Dank der Kopfhörer bekommen wir den Krach der Sportübertragungen nicht mit.

Telefonisch kommt die Bestätigung aus dem Büro des Cruise Directors: man hat vergessen, den Punkt in das Programm aufzunehmen. Ein zusätzlicher Termin wird am Vormittag in Osaka wird noch angesetzt.



By phone we got the confirmation from the office of the Cruise Director: they forgot to include the item into the Programme. Another time slot for a rehearsal would be added in the morning of Osaka.

You could not erase the message: „Voice Mail not available“.



Man kann allerdings die Nachricht nicht löschen: "Voice Mail nicht verfügbar".

Es blinkt weiter, so dass man jedes Mal immer prüft, ob nun eine neue Nachricht hat oder nicht. Abgesehen davon, dass es doch beim Einschlafen stört. Telefonisch erklärt mir die Rezeption, dass ich wohl zu blöd bin, auf "2" zu drücken. Ich bestehe darauf, sofort den Guest Service Manager zu sprechen oder den Hotel General Manager: wieder nein. Ich muss ihnen erst erzählen, warum ich sie sprechen möchte. Da ich wenig Sinn sehe zu kläre, dass ich die Rezeption mittlerweile ziemlich nervig finde, verzichte ich darauf. Später gehe ich mit den Bildern vom blinkenden Telefon und Anzeige zur Rezeption. Man verspricht mir einen Techniker, der das Telefon austauschen soll, aber es kommt niemand. Später gehe ich nochmals hin und eine ältere Mitarbeiterin meint, dass es ein allgemein-bekanntes Problem sei. Sie ruft bei uns in der Kabine an, während ich an der Rezeption stehe. Bruno meldet sich. Sie erklärt ihm, dass sie jetzt nochmals anrufen würde und er bitte nicht ans Telefon gehen soll, weil sie eine Nachricht auf der Voicemail hinterlassen möchte. Als sie die Nachricht hinterlässt, sagt sie, dass ich jetzt in die Kabine gehen soll und dann sofort die Nachricht löschen soll, während ich abhöre. Nur so kann man das Telefon zurücksetzen.



It was still flashing, so every time you checked the voicemail for inbound calls. Apart from that, it was disturbing to sleep in. On the phone, they explained that I might be too „stupid“ to enter „2“. I insisted on speaking with the Guest Service Manager or with the Hotel General Manager: again no. First I need to explain why I would like to speak to them. Since I could not see too much sense to speak again with the reception desk, I gave up. Later I went again with some pictures of the flashing phone set and the display. They promised that a technician would come to exchange the phone set, but nobody showed up. Later I went again, and an older agent said that this was a problem which was generally known. She called in our cabin while I was standing in front of her. Bruno answered. She explained to him that she would call again but he should not pick-up the phone. So she left a message on the phone and asked me to return to my cabin and to erase the message while I was listening. That was the only way to reset the phone.

As there was no rehearsal, I was downloading the songs which I need to know for the choir. I knew all the songs, but I need to listen and to exercise while singing.



Da keine Probe ist, lade ich mir kurzerhand die Lieder herunter, die ich für den Chor lernen soll. Ich kenne alle Lieder, aber ich muss jetzt immer wieder hören und singen.

Mittags geht es mal zum Pub Lunch. Es findet im Savoy statt. In diesem Fall ist das Bar Team für den Service zuständig. Da merkte man, dass es nicht ganz so läuft, wie als wenn das Restaurant Team Essen serviert. Leider kein Shepherd's Pie. Steak and Kidney Pie ist nicht mein Ding. Am Schluss bekomme ich Kaffee aber keinen Zucker. Kein Kellner kommt mehr vorbei.



At noon we went for the pub lunch. It was offered in The Savoy. Here the bar team was in charge to serve. You could see it was not the same standard, as if the restaurant team would serve the food. But they had no Shepherd‘s Pie. Steak and Kidney Pie was not my favorite food. Finally, I got some coffee but no sugar. No waiter was not showing up anymore.

So I took my coffee outside to the Atrium Bar.

Hier hole ich mir noch ein paar Finger-Sandwiches.

Und Bruno kann sich hier wieder seinen Cappucino bestellen.

By exception, we went again to the restaurant for having tea-time and thought, that we might meet the others here. But none was there whom we were familiar with.



Ausnahmsweise gehen wir mal wieder im Restaurant zur Tea-Time und denken, dass wir die anderen treffen. Aber niemand da, den wir kennen.

Wir bleiben trotzdem hier.



Anyhow, we stayed there.

Later Brian and Jerry came so that we could make some conversation with them.



Später kommen noch Brian und Jerry und dann unterhalten wir uns mit ihnen ein wenig.

Heute Abend essen wir zum ersten Mal im Santa Fe. Hadi arbeitet hier, aber leider gibt es keinen 8-er Tisch im Bereich seiner Service-Station.



That night we dined at the Santa Fee. Hadi was working here, but there was none table for eight in this service section.

I went again to Izumi: two pools were open air so that you could sit in a hot pool and see the stars above you.



Ich gehe noch ins Izumi: zwei Becken sind ja open-air, so dass man im heißen Pool sitzt und die Sterne sehen kann.

Sehr schön die Wasserkaskade.



The water cascades were just beautiful.

It was impossible to split yourself that night. Christoper Watkins was playing in the Explorer Lounge.

Er spielt fantastisch. Aber es gab eben so viel als Programmpunkte. Man kann einfach nicht alles mitmachen.



He was playing fantastic. But they offered a wide choice of program items. Participating to all of them was impossible.

„Do you wanna dance with me“ - a production show which I already knew from other ships. But the singers here were so outstanding that I loved to see the show although I remembered most part of the presentation.



"Do you wanna dance with me" - eine Production-Show, die ich bereits von einem anderen Schiff wohl kenne. Allerdings sind die Sänger hier so fantastisch, dass ich gerne in die Shows gehe, obwohl ich den meiste Teil der Show kenne.

Ein Blick am Schluss in den Horizon Court: Bayerischer Leberkäse mit australischem Cottage-Pie und Austern. Die perfekte Kombination. Morgen heißt es früh aufstehen. Ich freue mich schon auf die wunderschöne Einfahrt in Hongkong.
