Tag/Day 8 auf der/on GRAND PRINCESS in San Francisco, CA

Für die USA buche ich zunächst bei Sunrise einen Internet-Pass für 2 GB für 29,00 CHF.



For the US I booked an Internet-Pass with Sunrise for 2 GBP for 29.00 CHF (2018 = 29.00 USD).

But it did not book into the fastest network and many times I could not get in. Back in Switzerland, they exchanged the SIM-card.



Allerdings bucht er sich nicht immer in die schnellsten Netze ein und komme oft nicht rein. Zurück in der Schweiz wird die SIM-Karte ausgetauscht.

Ankunft in San Francisco - genauso schön, wie die Ausfahrt.

Ein letztes Frühstück mit Dede, Peter und Allen. Perfekt, bis auf die Zuteilung des Tisches. Wir möchten nicht zusammengesetzt werden. Der zuständige Oberkellner testet unsere Geduld: er lässt uns kurzerhand warten, um uns dann einen Tisch zu setzen, der in einem Bereich steht, der bisher noch gar keine Gäste hatte. Wir hätten den Tisch daher auch sofort ohne Diskussionen haben können.



The last breakfast with Dede, Peter and Allen. Perfect but the allocation of the table. We did not like to be seated with others. The head waiter in charge was testing our patience: he let keep us waiting to allocate us at a table in an area there were no other guests before. So we could have the table immediately without discussion.

I missed that. I could become as beautiful as the model if I got a treatment here.



Das habe ich nun verpasst. Ich hätte also genau schön werden können, wie das Model, wenn ich mich hätte nur hier behandeln lassen.

The invoice came. We still had a credit, and we let it booked for the Sabatini Team. We went to the Platinum Debarkation Lounge. Isla took care a very last time of us. Very fast Princess would like to hear our opinion.



Die Rechnung ist da. Das letzte Guthaben lassen wir kurzerhand zu Gunsten des Sabatini Team umbuchen. Es geht in die Platinum Debarkation Lounge. Isla kümmert sich ein letztes Mal, um uns. Sehr schnell will Princess unsere Meinung wissen.

Wir werden schnell vom Schiff in das Terminal hinausgeleitet. Eine Einreise- und Zollkontrolle findet nicht statt. Daher werden wir schnell am Bürgersteig abgesetzt. Die Lichtmaste sind nummeriert. Gerade auf der einen Seite und ungerade auf der anderen Seite. So kann man den Abholer einfach sagen, an welchem Lichtmast man auf welcher Seite steht.



We were escorted very quickly out of the ship into the terminal. No immigration or customs inspection was installed. So we were dropped off at the curbside very quickly. The poles were numbered. Even on the one side and odd on the other side. So you can tell the collectors at which pole you were exactly.

I wanted to make sure that we would not arrive in Las Vegas, NV totally overloaded. So I was sending ahead the bag to Las Vegas. But that was not so simple: a) from a Cruise Terminal which means a real fine-tuning with the collection and b) on a Sunday: Luggageforward was offering this.



Ich will sicherstellen, dass wir nicht überladen nach Las Vegas kommen. So sende ich den Koffer vorab nach Las Vegas. Das ist aber nicht so einfach: a) von einem Kreuzfahrtterminal, das eine präzise Feinabstimmung bei der Abholung bedeutet und b) an einem Sonntag: Luggageforward bietet es an.

Während die anderen um die Ecke auf mich warten, weil es hier keinen Parkplatz gibt, bleibe ich am Kreuzfahrtterminal zurück.



I stayed at the cruise terminal while the others were waiting for me around the corner since there was no parking available.

A few minutes later someone was looking for me.



Wenige Minuten später werde ich schon gesucht.

Das ist zwar nicht Luggageforward selbst, aber sie haben alles organisiert. Sie sind telefonisch erreichbar und können auch eingreifen.



That was not Luggageforward themselves but they organised everything. You could reach them by phone, and they could intervene.

We drove through San Francisco, CA. But I could not find anything on the house they painted Woody Allen on.



Wir fahren durch San Francisco. Leider finde ich nichts über das Haus, an dem Woody Allen an die Wand gemalt ist.

Einmal selbst die Lombard Street runterfahren.

Letztes Mal als wir nach der CARNIVAL SPIRIT 2011 hier waren, gab es ja einen Flitzer... heute leider nicht wieder.



The last time we came here after CARNIVAL SPIRIT 2011 and we saw a streaker... unfornately not today again.

Later we wanted to take a picture of Bruno in San Bruno and having something to drink around. But all parking lots were occupied.



Später wollen wir noch Bruno in San Bruno fotografieren und eigentlich etwas trinken. Aber alle Parkplätze sind besetzt.

Zuvor müssen wir auch nochmals die GRAND PRINCESS sehen und uns von ihr verabschieden.



Before we need to see GRAND PRINCESS one more time and to bid farewell.

So we went again to Montgomery Street.

We met us in Danville, CA. In the restaurant of Carlos Santana: Maria Maria. Memories of OCEAN PRINCESS 2010 and CARNIVAL SPIRIT 2011: Judy and Jeanne met us for lunch. We could fully understand why they loved Princess so much.



Wir treffen uns in Danville. In das Restaurant von Carlos Santana: Maria Maria. Erinnerungen an OCEAN PRINCESS 2010 und CARNIVAL SPIRIT 2011: Judy und Jeanne treffen uns zum Mittagessen. Wir können auch ihre Begeisterung für Princess verstehen.

Weiter geht es ins Holiday Inn Express Vacaville. Auch hier haben wir alles da, um unsere Geräte anzuschließen. Nur der Text im Fahrstuhl ist zu lang. Bis dass man alles gelesen hat, hat man bereits die Tür wieder mit der Tür aufgehalten.



We headed for Holiday Inn Express Vacaville, CA. Here we had everything to get connected. In the text in the elevator was too long. Until you read everything, someone had already kept the door open with the hand.

The night we met with one of my father's best friend and who knew as little kid in Taipei, Taiwan: David and his wife, Angela. My father should be here too, but his health condition did not allow it anymore. So all the cruises we did together were very important. The time we spent together onboard was excellent and valuable.



Abends treffen wir uns mit einem der besten Freunde meines Vaters und mich als kleines Kind noch aus Taipeh kennt: David und seine Frau Angela. Mein Vater hätte hier dabei sein sollen, aber sein Gesundheitszustand lässt es nicht mehr zu. Deswegen waren alle Kreuzfahrten, die wir gemeinsam gemacht haben sehr wichtig. Die Zeit, die wir gemeinsam auf den Schiffen verbracht haben, war schön und wertvoll.
