Tag/Day 7 auf der/on OCEAN PRINCESS in Rosyth, Scotland

Frühstück: Es sieht sehr nett aus. Alles da, um glücklich zu sein. Nur die hartgekochten Eier gibt es nur paarweise.



Breakfast: It looked very nice. Everything to make you happy was there. Only hard-boiled eggs were available couple-wise.

Fog, Rain: the way you image of Scotland. And finally breathe after 104 F in Basle, Switzerland.



Nebel, Regen: so stellt man sich eben Schottland vor. Und endlich durchatmen nach 40°C in Basel.

Und natürlich: Hügel und Weite.



And certainly: Hills and wideness.

We need to head back towards the ship. In this way, we stopped in The Clatterin Brig in Laurencekirk to have a refreshment. Later we drove through Dundee, Scotland.



Es geht weiter zum Schiff zurück. Unterwegs halten wir kurz im Clatterin Brig in Laurencekirk, um uns zu erfrischen. Später ging es durch Dundee.

Wir halten kurz in St. Andrews. Das macht hier alles einen sehr netten Eindruck.



We stopped quickly in St. Andrews. It made a very nice impression for us.

In St. Andrews besuchen wir kurz die Touristen Information. Hier kaufe ich wieder einen Magneten für den Kühlschrank und wir bekommen Tipps, was im Vorbeigehen sehenswert ist.



In St. Andrews we saw the tourist office for a brief stop. Here I rebought a magnet for the fridge, and we got some recommendations what was worth to see when while we were walking through.

We walked along the St. Andrews Cathedral to the promenade.



Wir gehen entlang der St. Andrews Kathedrale zur Uferpromenade.

Irgendwie habe ich mir die schottische Küste genauso vorgestellt. Wild, grün, steinig.



Somehow that was exactly the image I had of the Scottish coast. Wild, green, rocky.



Es geht auf dem Weg zum Auto noch bei der Burg St. Andrews vorbei.



On the way back to the cars we passed St. Andrews Castle.

Here we had to renounce a visit of the ruins of the castle.



Aber auch hier verzichten wir auf einen Besuch in der Burgruine.



Few more selfies and one ice cream. We should have the next meal in about 90 minutes.



Noch ein paar Selfies und ein Eis. Es gibt erst in ca. 90 Minuten wieder etwas zu essen.



We tried to use a short-cut over the campus of a high school. But that did not work.



Wir versuchen eine Abkürzung über den Campus einer Hochschule zu nehmen. Aber das klappt nicht.





Aber so müssen wir halt außen herum laufen. Danach bringen wir den Wagen zurück. Wir hatten eigentlich unseren Taxifahrer gebeten, uns wieder an der Autovermietung abzuholen. Aber da er verhindert war, organisiert er uns einen anderen Fahrer, der auf uns wartet.




So we had to walk outside around the yard. Then we returned the car. We originally asked our driver to pick up our party. But as he was prevented he organized another driver who waited for us.

Our way took us to the Queensferry Hotel (today Doubletree by Hilton) in North Queensferry. Our first cruise in Scottish waters took us to BLACK PRINCE 2007. Then we shared a table with Agnes, John, Margaret, and Ella. Again we shared a table again for tea-time. We experienced Scottish hospitality. Like we did the night before we were delighted to see them all again and to have a talk and the possibilities to make new friends. We got some ideal Scottish gifts as souvenirs and from Margaret an ancient coin which showed the old bridge. We were just at the construction site of the new bridge.



Unser Weg führt uns ins Queensferry Hotel (heute Doubletree by Hilton) in North Queensferry. Unsere erste Kreuzfahrt in schottischen Gewässern führte uns auf die BLACK PRINCE 2007. Dort haben einen Tisch mit Agnes, John, Margaret und Ella geteilt. Und auch heute teilen wir wieder einen gemeinsamen Tisch zur Tea-Time. Wir erleben hier schottische Gastfreundschaft. Wie am Vorabend freuen wir uns auf das Wiedersehen, die Zeit zum Reden und auch die Möglichkeit neue Freundschaften zu schließen. Wir bekommen einige typisch schottische Geschenke als kleine Erinnerung und auch von Margaret eine alte Münze, die noch die alte Brücke zeigt. Denn wir sind ja direkt vor der Baustelle der neuen Brücke.

Wir schließen auch neue Freundschaften, so z. B. mit Margarets Tochter Margaret.



We made new friends like with Margaret's daughter Margaret.

Also bidding farewell was very cordial.



Auch dieser Abschied fällt sehr herzlich aus.





Wann immer es möglich ist, werden wir unsere Freunde in unsere schottischen Reisepläne mit aufnehmen.



Whenever it would be possible we would include our friends in our Scottish travel plans.

Such a reunion was a great pleasure to us.



So ein Wiedersehen macht uns sehr viel Freude.

Zurück am Terminal sehen wir, dass auch Tourenvorschläge mit Taxis angeboten werden.



Back to the terminal, we saw they also displayed some tour suggestions.

By the way, that was Joe who took us to the car rental and made us on time back to the ship. Furthermore, he recommended us a different car rental which was willing to deliver the car to the cruise terminal. We include him in our circle of worldwide taxi driver friends.



Das ist übrigens Joe, der uns zur Autovermietung gebracht hat, gesorgt hat, dass wir wieder abgeholt wurden und uns püntklich vom Hotel zurück zum Schiff gebracht hat. Außerdem hat er uns für das nächste Mal eine andere Autovermietung empfohlen, die uns den Wagen auch zum Terminal gebracht hätte. Ihn nehmen wir zu der Riege unserer weltweiten Taxifreunde auf.

Wieder an Bord stellen wir fest: sie wollen uns bald wieder loswerden und lesen erst mal nach, was wir alles verpasst haben.



Back on board, we found out: they wanted to get rid of us soon, and we first read what we all missed.

Frances was doing laundry indeed but not for us.



Frances macht tatsächlich Wäsche - aber nicht unsere.

Die Ausfahrt findet bei fantastischem Wetter statt.



The set sail was during we had fantastic weather.

The set sail took us along the skyline of Edinburgh, Scotland. You could see the castle which we knew since our sailing on BOUDICCA 2009. Agnes and John took us there. Also, the Royal Yacht BRITANNIA which we visited while we were on NORWEGIAN SUN 2012.



Die Ausfahrt führt uns an der Skyline von Edinburgh vorbei. Die Burg, die wir seit der BOUDICCA 2009 kennen, kann man sehr gut sehen. Agnes und John haben uns damals dorthin gebracht. Ebenso die Royal Yacht BRITANNIA, die wir während der Reise auf der NORWEGIAN SUN 2012 besucht haben.

Und vor der Kulisse lasse ich es mir nicht nehmen auch ein paar Selfies zu machen.

Im SB-Restaurant gibt es ein deutsches Büffet. Eine Weißwurst mit englischem Senf und etwas Suppe muss ich probieren.



In the self-service restaurant, they had a German buffet. A white sausage with some English mustard and some soup I need to try.

Before I headed to the restaurant, I took something from the coffee bar. The next day a beer would be available which you only can get on Princess-ships: An Indian Ale Pale. Apart from that, we enjoyed the food and the service again onboard. Our individual wishes like Exotic fruits were fulfilled promptly. And we saw Frances was curious to try some alcohol.



Bevor wir ins Restaurant gehen, nehme ich noch etwas von der Kaffeebar. Dort gibt es sogar ein Bier, das nur auf Princess-Schiffen erhältlich ist: Ein Indian Pale Ale. Ansonsten genießen wir wieder das Essen und den Service an Bord. Unsere Sonderwünsche wie exotische Früchte werden gerne erfüllt. Und wir sehen Frances Neugier auf Alkohol.
