Tag/Day 2.2 auf der/on OCEAN PRINCESS in St. Helier, Jersey, Channel Island

Wir sind so frühzeitig an Bord, dass wir noch zur Tea-Time kommen. Die gibt es täglich an Bord.



We were so early back onboard that we could go for tea-time. They had it every day onboard.

The Holland America Shirt was beautiful. Unfortunately, American men were built stronger that I could order M instead. Frances was so kind to laundry and to iron. The purchase it self-occurred some anger because Holland America use a subcontractor who had terrible customer service and the description on the website did not apply to the reality.



Das Holland America-Shirt ist in Ordnung. Leider sind wohl amerikanische Männer kräftiger gebaut, so dass ich demnächst getrost M bestellen kann. Frances war schon so nett gewesen, sie mir zu waschen und zu bügeln. Ärgerlich war lediglich der Kauf selbst, weil wohl Holland America sich eines Subunternehmens bedient, das einen miesen Kundendienst hat und mal wieder die Beschreibungen auf der Homepage nicht der Realität entsprach.

Zufällig beobachte, wie an der Rezeption zwei Mitarbeiter sich mit einer Umarmung zum Dienst begrüßen. Ich "beschwere" mich, dass ich als Gast schlechter behandelt werde, als das Personal. Und prompt werde auch umarmt.



By accident I observed how to front desk agents welcomed each other for work with a hug. I made an official "claim" that I was treated as guest worst than the crew. So I got promptly also a hug.

That kind of gesture I need to share immediately with the whole world of Princess Cruises' chronicle on Facebook. Thanks to Karen and Gandhi.



Die liebe Geste musste ich natürlich mit der ganzen Welt auf der Chronik von Princess Cruises teilen. Danke an Karen und Gandhi.

Und Princess hat sich über mein Posting gefreut. Es gibt nun mal bei Facebook nur "Gefällt mir" (in der Originalfassung). Und dann sollte man auch die positiven Erfahrungen, die man mit Crew-Mitgliedern sammelt, einfach mit der ganzen Welt teilen.



And Princess liked my posting. With Facebook, you had only "Like" (in the original version). So you should share your happiness with the whole world of the good experiences with the crew members.

I usually would NORMALLY NOT buying a shirt which was related to one single ship. But here with OCEAN PRINCESS, I need to make an exception to have her longtime in good memories.



Normalerweise kaufe ich mir SO GUT WIE NIE ein Shirt, das sich auf ein einzelnes Schiff bezieht. Aber im Fall von OCEAN PRINCESS mache ich eine Ausnahme, weil ich mich noch gerne lange an sie erinnern möchte.

Also Bruno's mother was fascinated of the famous goodmothers and was placed herself next to them.



Und auch Brunos Mutter kann sich für die berühmten Taufpatinnen begeistern und stellt sich mal dazu.

Heute ist formeller Abend. Einen neuen Smoking habe ich mir nicht wieder gekauft. Im Moment habe ich mein Zielgewicht noch nicht erreicht. Aber da ich im Büro nie einen Anzug brauche, werde ich endlich mal den Strellson-Anzug einweihen, den ich mir extra in The Style Outlets Roppenheim (bei Baden-Baden auf der französischen Seite - Strellson ist dort leider nicht mehr.) gekauft hatte, bevor ich nach Basel gezogen bin.



It was formal night. I did not buy a new tuxedo. Actually, I did not reach my target weight yet. So as I also need a suit in the office I would inaugurate my new Strellson-suit which I bought especially at The Style Outlets Roppenheim (close to Baden-Baden, Germany but across the border in France - Strellson is not there anymore, unfortunately.) just before I moved to Basle, Switzerland.

"Unfortunately" (for those who were upset that I became so vain) or with proud (I need to like it!) I did some selfies of me. If you had a functional consultant who did not let you out of the shop without you had an appearance like a potato bag but also not like a Knockwurst just before bursting - then you really found a good shop. I really liked me with the suit.



"Leider" (für die jenigen, die sich darüber aufregen, dass ich so eitel geworden bin) bzw. mit Stolz (es muss ja mir gefallen!) mache ich ein paar Selfies mehr von mir. Wenn man einen guten Berater hat, der einen nicht so aus dem Geschäft wieder rauslässt, dass man aussieht, wie ein Kartoffelsack, aber auch nicht, als eine Bockwurst kurz vor dem Platzen ist, dann hat man wohl ein gutes Geschäft gefunden. Ich gefalle mir richtig gut darin.

Bruno passt sein Smoking zum Glück noch.

We were now with the Captain's Welcome Cocktail Party. I think that should be part of every cruise. So Bruno and I were taken pictures of without a selfie-stick... And we took pictures of our photographers: Karen and Gandhi from the front desk who gave me a hug. As usual with Princess: you had the champagne pyramid, and you could have a picture together with Maître D' Luigi. Every guest got one or two cocktails to toast and few canapés you had too.



Wir sind jetzt auf der Captain's Welcome Cocktail Party. Finde ich, dass es zu jeder Kreuzfahrt dazu gehört. So werden Bruno und ich auch mal ohne Selfie-Stick fotografiert.... Und wir fotografieren unsere Fotografen: Karen und Gandhi von der Rezeption, die mich zuvor ja schon umarmt hatten. Wie üblich bei Princess: es gibt es die Sektpyramide und kann man sich zusammen mit unserem Maître D' Luigi fotografieren lassen. Jeder Gast bekommt ein oder zwei Cocktails zum Anstoßen und ein paar Häppchen gibt es auch.

Auf jeden Fall haben alle ihren Spaß.



Anyhow everybody had fun.

Cruise Director Daniel introduced Captain Domenico. And he was presenting this ship management. Like on ISLAND PRINCESS 2013: The remainder of the voyage we never had a chance to see the Captain. That time I had no problem with the mattress, and so I had no reason to find alternatives and thus no reason to bother Hotel Director Karin: I had a clean cabin, I had an excellent cabin steward, and I had my body wash. And the shows were so old-fashioned that I did not need any song list to download it on my iPhone. And like anything else worked almost perfect, and the few things we need to discuss could be handled by Karina, Gandhi, Karen, Luigi, and Edgar so there was no need to remember the name of the senior officers.



Kreuzfahrtdirektor Daniel stellt Kapitän Domenico vor. Und er stellt wiederum seine Führungsriege vor. Wie auf der ISLAND PRINCESS 2013: Den Rest der Fahrt habe ich den Kapitän nie zu Gesicht bekommen. Ich hatte ja dieses Mal kein Problem mit der Matratze und daher keinen Grund mir eine Alternative zu suchen und somit die Hoteldirektorin Karin zu behelligen: ich hatte ein sauberes Kabine, ich hatte einen netten Kabinensteward und mein Duschgel habe ich auch. Und die Shows waren so alt-backen, dass ich jetzt keine Liederlisten brauchte, um mir etwas auf mein iPhone herunterzuladen. Und da ansonsten alles fast perfekt lief und die wenigen Sachen, die es zu besprechen gab, über Karina, Gandhi, Karen, Luigi und Edgar abgewickelt werden konnten, musste ich mir keine weiteren Namen von der FÜhrungsriege merken.

Es geht zum Abendessen. Man teilt uns mit, dass wohl der Chef's Table nicht zustande käme, weil wir wohl die einzigen Interessenten seien. Schade: wir hätten zu gerne Brunos Eltern, sowie Frances und Eddie gezeigt, wie ein Chef's Table laufen sollte. Bislang kennen sie ja nur den Chef's Table von Norwegian. Der war schon gut, aber der von Princess ist nochmals eine Klasse besser. Für alle alle anderen: Hier auf der OCEAN-PRINCESS 2010 kann man nachlesen, wie toll es war. Auch Bruno und ich hätten gerne wieder diese Erfahrung gemacht.



We went for dinner. They told us that a Chef's table could not be hosted as we were the only guests who were interested. Sad: we really would love to show Bruno's parents, and Frances and Eddie, how a Chef's Table should be set up. So far they only knew the Chef's Table from Norwegian. That was good, but Princess' one was one class better. For all other: Here on OCEAN-PRINCESS 2010 you could read how great ti was. Also, Bruno and I would do the experience again.

Otherwise, the dinner was also delicious. I like the selection, and the quality on this voyage was outstanding.



Ansonsten war aber auch das Abendessen auch sehr gut. Mir gefällt das Angebot und die Qualität auf dieser Reise sehr gut.

Bruno will unbedingt auch mal mit meinem Selfie-Stick etwas fotografieren.

Dadurch, dass wir direkt am Fenster sitzen, sind die Lichtverhältnisse zum Fotografieren nicht immer optimal. Aber zum Rausgucken auf jeden Fall.



As we had a table right at the window the light condition to take pictures were always the best. But to look out it was perfect.



Auf jeden Fall gefällt uns allen auch dieser Abend.



Anyhow we liked that evening too.

I only need a Shirley Temple to be happy. The ravioli made me happy too.



Ich brauche nur einen Shirley Temple zum Glücklich sein. Die Raviolis haben mich auch glücklich gemacht.

Überhaupt genießen wir alle das Essen und den Service von Chester und Marielito.



All of us enjoyed at all the food and the service of Chester and Marielito.

Everyone was busy to enjoy. None had time for my selfie.



Alle sind mit Genießen beschäftigt. Keiner hat Zeit für mein Selfie.



Certainly we experienced here a perfect service too: The cognac for Bruno's father was carried to the service station in a glass which was kept in warm water so the flavor could develop. The Love-Boat-dessert was too beautiful to have it destroyed. The moment when our waiters wanted to serve Petit Fours to our table a STUPID COW who was passing by just took some from our plate to go. When passing by. You could see how embarrassing it was to our waiters and he walked back again to the galley to have a full arrangement on the plate. We took the remainder of the water bottle to our cabin. But Marielito wanted us to leave a good impression when we walked through the restaurant, and the container should not slide out of our hands. So he built every night a collar for our water.



Selbstverständlich erleben wir auch hier einen perfekten Service: Der Cognac für Brunos Vater wird in einem Glas warmen Wasser zur Servicestation getragen, damit er schon mal seinen Aroma entfalten kann. Das Love-Boat-Dessert ist einfach zu schön, um es zu zerstören. Als gerade unsere Kellner mit den Petit Fours zu unserem Tisch unterwegs war, nimmt eine DUMME KUH im Vorbeigehen einfach ein paar für sich zum Mitnehmen vom Teller. Im Vorbeigehen. Unserem Kellner ist dieses sichtbar peinlich und er läuft lieber nochmals zur Galley, damit wir ein vollständiges Angebot bekommen. Wir nehmen immer die restliche Wasserflasche mit auf die Kabine. Aber Marielito will, dass wir dabei einen guten Eindruck hinterlassen, wenn wir durch das Restaurant laufen und er will, dass sie uns nicht aus den Händen rutzscht. Deswegen baut er uns jeden Abend immer einen Kragen für unser Wasser.

Höchste Zeit unseren Kabinensteward Ronie vorzustellen, der eine sehr gute Arbeit geleistet hat.

Wir bekommen ja nicht nur die Gute-Nacht-Schokolade.

Wir bekommen auch eine Beschreibung der Schokolade.



We also got a description of the chocolate.

"What a Swell Party" - the theme of the production show. The show was as old-fashioned as the poster was. But you need to say: since DISNEY DREAM 2014 all production shows had problems to impress me. And after ROYAL PRINCESS 2013 nothing on Princess could convince me either. But here the technical and constructional possibilities did not allow a show like with Disney or on ROYAL PRINCESS. So for OCEAN PRINCESS, it was quite nice. Nice to have a cocktail while seeing the show. But nothing more.



"What a Swell Party" (Was für eine vornehme Party) - das Motto der Production-Show. So altmodisch, wie das Plakat aussah, war auch die Show. Aber man muss fairerweise sagen: seit DISNEY DREAM 2014 haben alle Production-Shows es schwer bei mir. Und nach ROYAL PRINCESS 2013 gab es innerhalb Princess auch nichts, was mich überzeugt hat. Nur hier lassen die technischen und baulichen Möglichkeiten keine Shows wie bei Disney oder ROYAL PRINCESS zu. Deswegen war es eigentlich auch ganz in Ordnung für die OCEAN PRINCESS. Nett zum Angucken, nett, um einen Cocktail dabei zu schlürfen. Aber eben nicht mehr.
