Wie üblich bin ich nachts unterwegs, um mir das Schiff in Ruhe anzusehen.



As usual, I'm out at night to take a good look at the ship.

The piazza is now deserted. So I can let the "balloons" float.



Jetzt ist die Piazza menschenleer. So kann ich auch mal die "Ballons" schweben lassen.

Ich sehe mir das Frühstücksangebot im International Café an. So ein Avocado-Ei-Brötchen muss ich doch mal probieren.

We'd rather go to the main restaurant. I ask if I could have congee: No problem.



Wir gehen lieber zum Hauptrestaurant. Ich frage nach, ob ich Congee haben könnte: Kein Problem.

Ich muss allerdings sagen, dass das beste Congee aus der Crew-Messe stammte. Damals, auf der ISLAND PRINCESS 2013, hat Hubi es dort abgeholt. Leider habe ich es seitdem nicht wieder aus der Crew-Messe bekommen.



I must say, though, that the best congee came from the crew mess. Hubi picked it up there on ISLAND PRINCESS 2013. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get it from the crew mess since.



Zufällig komme ich bei einer Veranstaltung für Erstfahrer hinzu. Hier lerne ich auch Hotel-General-Manager Enrique, F&B-Manager Antonio (der arme Kerl, der auf dem Boden herumkreucht), Finance Director Nilesh, "Yeoman Purser" (oder heißt es dann "Yeoman Purserette") – oder heute Guest Service Manager Liliana und Crew Manager Net kennen. Cruise Director Matt lockert die Stimmung mit ein paar Spielchen auf.



I happened to stumble upon an event for first-time cruisers. Here I meet Hotel General Manager Enrique, F&B Manager Antonio (the poor guy crawling around on the floor), Finance Director Nilesh, "Yeoman Purser" (or is it "Yeowoman Purserette"?) – or today, Guest Service Manager Liliana – and Crew Manager Net. Cruise Director Matt lightens the mood with a few games.

The piazza is where the ship's specialty restaurants and other revenue-generating venues are located. My mother had previously made a paper flower there, and later, towel animals were made, which are now on display.



Auf der Piazza stellen sich die Zuzahlrestaurants und andere Umsatzbringer auf dem Schiff vor. Zuvor hatte meine Mutter dort eine Papierblume gebastelt, und später wurden Handtuchtiere gebastelt, die hier ausgestellt werden.

Meine Schwester und meine Nichte nehmen am Tanzkurs teil.

I must introduce our cabin steward, Velip. He kept our cabin in excellent condition, which made us feel comfortable and well cared for. We received canapés for the gala evening and were allowed to choose which ones we liked. A brilliant feature: the floor lamp that reacts to a motion sensor. This made it safe to walk into the bathroom, adding to our sense of security.



Ich muss mal unseren Kabinensteward Velip vorstellen. Er hat unsere Kabine gut in Schuss gehalten. Wir bekommen einmal Canapés für den Galaabend und sollen uns selbst aussuchen, welche wir mögen. Ganz genial: die Fußbodenlampe, die auf einen Bewegungsmelder reagiert. So kann man gefahrlos ins Badezimmer laufen.

Wir haben ja das Princess Plus Paket: Bisher durfte man damit auch zum Casual Dining gehen. Das darf man zwar immer noch, aber die Möglichkeiten wurden stark eingeschränkt. Heute probieren wir daher das Sushi-Angebot an Bord auf. Es gibt nur ein festes Gedeck, das man auch nicht verändern kann.



We have the Princess Plus package: Previously, this included access to casual dining. While that's still possible, the options have been significantly reduced. So today we're trying the sushi on board. There's only one fixed place setting, which can't be changed.

It's time for tea time.



Es geht zur Tea-Time.

Weil mir das Angebot zur Tea-Time aber nicht zusagte, gehe ich später nochmals in die Platinum- und Elite-Lounge, um zu gucken, was es heute hier gibt.



Because the tea-time offering didn't appeal to me, I'll go back to the Platinum and Elite Lounge later to see what's available today.

The first formal evening always means that the champagne pyramid is built.



Erster formeller Abend bedeutet auch immer, dass die Champagner Pyramide aufgebaut wird.

Nach 19 Jahren habe ich endlich auch mal ein Bild von der Veranstaltung.

Die Offiziere stellen sich auf und werden vorgestellt. Es folgt noch eine Rede von Kapitän Heikki.

Wir müssen die Chance nutzen, um noch ein paar schöne Bilder von uns machen zu lassen. Chris und Carol leisten hier tolle Arbeit. Nur hatte ich keine Gelegenheit, sie für ein Selfie aufzunehmen, weil die Schlange vor deren Leinwand immer recht lang war. Sie hatten ja auch die einzigen Leinwände, die etwas taugten.



We should take the opportunity to get some nice pictures taken of ourselves. Chris and Carol are doing a great job here. I didn't get a chance to take a selfie with them because the line in front of their canvas was always quite long. They did have the only decent canvases, though.

The pictures look absolutely fantastic.

A gala dinner without lobster. But thankfully, there was no waiting time, and the service was provided by a very nice team: Merry, Ryll, and Febian.

I'm just popping into the show: Spotlight Bar for a bit. But I'm so tired that I'd rather go to bed. I was up very early last night, and tomorrow's our first shore excursion. So it's time to get some sleep.



Ich gehe noch kurz in die Show: Spotlight Bar. Aber ich bin so müde, dass ich dann doch lieber ins Bett gehe. Heute Nacht war ich ja bereits sehr früh unterwegs, und morgen ist der erste Landgang. Also Zeit auch mal zu schlafen.
