Tage/Days 08/09 auf der/on SKY PRINCESS in Southampton, England - Arras, France - Frankfurt, Germany

Eine letzte Runde im Horizon Court, um zu sehen, ob jemand da ist, von dem ich mich verabschieden möchte. Dabei entdecke ich kanadischen Speck. Ich kenne amerikanischen Speck (dünne knusprige Streifen) und englischen Speck (große Scheiben). Mit meiner letzten Portion Congee probiere ich es.



One last round in Horizon Court to see if there's anyone I want to say goodbye to. That's when I spot Canadian bacon. I'm familiar with American bacon (thin, crispy strips) and English bacon (large slices). I try it with my last portion of congee.

Since the egg wraps at the International Café are so small, I'll treat myself to one last wrap.

Rodel ist der Supervisor von Velip. Ich nutze die Gelegenheit, mich nochmals bei Velips für seine tolle Arbeit bei uns zu bedanken.

Disembarkation is going very well. For 64 USD, they would have taken my mother and sister to Heathrow or Gatwick airport, or to the Victoria bus station. I had selected 8:15 to 8:30 hrs, but we were assigned 8:35 hrs.



Die Ausschiffung läuft sehr gut. Für 64 USD hätten sie meine Mutter und meine Schwester zum Flughafen Heathrow oder Gatwick oder zum Victoria Busbahnhof gebracht. Ich hatte 08:15 Uhr bis 08:30 Uhr angekreuzt. Wir bekommen 08:35 Uhr zugeteilt.





Vom Balkon sehen wir unsere Autos. Also können wir dann von Bord gehen.

AIDAnova ist noch in Southampton eingetroffen.

Wir fahren alle nach Windsor. Ulla hatte zuvor meine andere Schwester in London abgeholt und mit nach Southampton gebracht.



We're all going to Windsor. Ulla had previously picked up my other sister in London and brought her to Southampton.

Ulla accompanies us and guides us through Windsor Castle. I take a selfie with King Charles III.

Während wir draußen herumlaufen, wird der Union Jack eingeholt und die königliche Flagge aufgezogen. Wo ist Charles? Ich will ein echtes Selfie. Drinnen dürfen wir leider nicht fotografieren. Wir halten uns dran. Ein paar aus einer chinesischen Reisegruppe spielen jedoch Katz und Maus und ignorieren das komplett. Die Schlangen für das Doll's House sind sehr lange, sodass wir nur durch die State Apartments und die Kathedrale laufen. Aber auch das ist schon beeindruckend.



While we're walking around outside, the Union Jack is being lowered and the royal flag raised. Where's Charles? I want a real selfie. Unfortunately, we're not allowed to take photos inside. We abide by the rule. However, a few people from a Chinese tour group are playing cat-and-mouse and completely ignoring it. The lines for the Doll's House are very long, so we walk through the State Apartments and the Cathedral. But even that is impressive.

Before we all say our goodbyes, we're celebrating my other sister's birthday at Côte Windsor. She's come all the way from Bilbao, Spain. So things come full circle before we part ways again. They have a great, reasonably priced lunch menu there.



Bevor wir uns alle voneinander verabschieden, feiern wir den Geburtstag meiner anderen Schwester im Côte Windsor. Sie ist von Bilbao hergekommen. So schließt sich der Kreis, bevor es wieder auseinandergeht. Hier gibt es ein tolles günstiges Lunch-Menü.

Ulla bringt noch meine Mutter und meine Schwester zum Flughafen Heathrow. Sie hat wieder eine tolle Arbeit geleistet. Wir sehen sie dann in London wieder, wenn wir im Mai mit der COSTA DIADEMA unterwegs sind.

We're taking the Le Shuttle back to France. This time, we made it just in time. In Calais, we find an old advertisement for the SeaLink ferry service, which ceased operations in 1984.



Wir fahren mit Le Shuttle zurück nach Frankreich. Dieses Mal schaffen wir es kurz vor knapp. In Calais finden wir noch eine alte Werbung auf die Fährdienst von SeaLink, die 1984 den Betrieb eingestellt hat.

Heute fahren wir weiter nach Arras und übernachten im Hotel Holiday Inn Express. Wir hatten im Vorfeld einige Probleme mit der Reservierung. Aber wir haben es auf die französische Art gelöst: Es gab etwas zu trinken – Santé –, und alles ist erledigt. Sie hatten uns ein tolles Zimmer gegeben. Leider bekommen wir es nicht warm. So haben wir einen Radiator ins Zimmer gestellt. So lässt es sich aushalten.



Today, we're continuing to Arras and staying overnight at the Holiday Inn Express. We had some problems with the reservation beforehand, but we solved it the French way: we had something to drink – Santé – and everything was taken care of. They gave us a great room. Unfortunately, we can't get it warm, so we put in a radiator. That makes it bearable.

The next morning, we meet Christelle: she prepares breakfast all by herself. She refills the tables, she clears them away. I only see her and no one else. A group of unruly students enters the room. She has nerves of steel and handles everything on her own.



Am nächsten Morgen lernen wir Christelle kennen: Sie kümmert sich alleine um das Frühstück. Sie füllt auf, sie räumt ab. Ich sehe nur sie und sonst niemanden anderen. Eine Schülergruppe, die sich nicht benehmen kann, betritt den Raum. Sie hat Nerven aus Stahl und schafft es alleine alles zu steuern.

Bevor wir zu Hause sind: Bis bald. Leider ist das 2028er Europaprogramm nicht rausgekommen. Ein heißer Kandidat, um den 30. Jahrestag von Bruno und mir zu feiern...
