Hmm... die Sonne kann sich nicht entscheiden: schön oder nicht so schön. Das Wetter ist nun mal so wie es ist.

This morning is congee day again.



Heute Morgen ist mal wieder Congee-Tag.

Eigentlich war ich schon zu oft bei der Kochshow, aber wir wurden eindringlich gebeten zu kommen. Es würde ihnen sehr viel bedeuten, wenn wir dabei wären.



I've actually been to the cooking show far too often, but we were earnestly asked to come. It would mean a lot to them if we were there.

Edwin and his crewmates come on at the end to sing Michael Jackson's "Heal the World." They sing beautifully, but it's still frightening how well the lyrics resonate with today's world. I initially wrote "horribly." I apologize for that. Of course, they don't sing it "horribly." But with age, the ability to express oneself appropriately diminishes considerably. Somehow, the conversation turned to whether they sang better, served better, or both. So I felt emboldened to shout something out loud to the crowd and declare, "They're the best waiters on the high seas!" This was met with applause from the other guests. Whether they're singing for me or serving me, I feel incredibly comfortable in their company.



Edwin tritt am Schluss mit seinen Crew-Kollegen auf, um gemeinsam Michael Jacksons "Heal the World" zu singen. Sie singen schön, aber es ist dennoch erschreckend, wie gut der Inhalt zur heutigen Welt passt. Ich hatte anfangs "schrecklich" geschrieben. Dafür muss ich mich entschuldigen. Natürlich singen sie sie nicht "schrecklich". Aber mit zunehmendem Alter nimmt die Fähigkeit, sich angemessen auszudrücken, stark ab. Irgendwie ging es am Schluss darum, ob sie nun besser singen, servieren oder beides. Da sah ich mich ermutigt, doch mal etwas laut in die Menge zu rufen und festzustellen: "Es sind die besten Kellner auf hoher See". Das wurde dann von den anderen Gästen mit Applaus quittiert. Egal, ob sie für mich singen oder mich bedienen: Ich fühle mich in ihrer Umgebung ausgesprochen wohl.

Wir laufen dann dieses Mal wieder eine Runde durch die Galley und am Schluss verabschiede ich mich nochmals von Naveer und Ciprian.

Then it's back to the International Café, and here too I meet my dream team: Francis, Darin, Joseph, and Sabina.



Es geht dann wieder ins International Café, und auch hier treffe ich auf mein Dream-Team: Francis, Darin, Joseph und Sabina.

Mittags geht es zum Casual Dining, das im Princess Plus-Paket enthalten ist, aber wir dürfen nur die "einfachen" Sorten nehmen. Die Premiumsorten müssen wir in voller Höhe bezahlen: Ein Upgrade gibt es nicht. D.h. wir bekommen keine weltmeisterliche Pizza von Tony Gemignani. Princess hätte sich kein Bein gebrochen, wenn sie zumindest ein Upgrade zugelassen hätte: 3,50 USD pro Pizza plus Service Charge.



At lunchtime, we went to the casual dining option included in the Princess Plus package, but we were only allowed to order the "basic" pizzas. We had to pay full price for the premium pizzas; there was no upgrade option. This meant we didn't get a world-class pizza from Tony Gemignani. Princess wouldn't have broken a sweat offering at least one upgrade: 3.50 USD per pizza plus a service charge.

But honestly, I don't think I missed out on anything. I'd already been to Tony's Pizza Neapolitana in San Francisco before I went on GRAND PRINCESS 2018. I remember that it was packed, that we had to wait a long time, that we had to show up within five minutes so our table wouldn't be given away, and above all, that it was expensive: 24 USD (in 2018!!!) net (plus tax and tip) for a Margherita pizza is pretty steep, in my opinion.



Aber ganz ehrlich: Ich glaube nicht, dass ich etwas verpasst habe. Ich war schon mal bei Tony's Pizza Neapolitana in San Francisco, bevor es auf die GRAND PRINCESS 2018 ging. Ich erinnere mich nur daran, dass es voll war, dass wir lange warten mussten, dass wir innerhalb von fünf Minuten erscheinen mussten, damit unser Tisch nicht weitergegeben wurde, und vor allem, dass es teuer war: 24 USD (2018!!!) netto (plus Steuern und Trinkgeld) für eine Pizza Margherita finde ich schon sehr "sportlich".



After our trip on MSC ARMONIA 2025, we visited another participant in this competition: Remo in Mals, South Tyrol, Italy. He never came in first, but he did place third several times, probably because of his exceptional creations made with ingredients from South Tyrol. And in 2025, these pizzas cost just 16.50 EUR (including tax) – even those with "fancy" toppings.



Nach unserer Fahrt auf der MSC ARMONIA 2025 waren wir bei einem anderen Teilnehmer an diesem Wettkampf: Remo in Mals, Südtirol. Er ist zwar nie Erster, aber mehrfach schon Dritter geworden, wohl eher wegen seiner außergewöhnlichen Kreationen mit Zutaten aus Südtirol. Und die haben 2025 gerade mal 16,50 EUR (inkl. Steuern) gekostet – und das auch für Pizzen mit "edlen" Belägen.



During the cooking demonstration, we were told about today's dessert buffet. There seem to be a lot of beautiful things to photograph today. Melissa is still standing by the soft-serve ice cream. Poor thing, she's been really hit by the cold this week.



Bei der Kochdemonstration wurden wir auf das heutige Dessertbüffet hingewiesen. Heute stehen wohl besonders viele schöne Objekte zum Fotografieren bereit. Melissa steht immer noch beim Softeis. Die Arme hat es ja diese Woche eiskalt erwischt.

Ich nutze den Sonnenschein, nochmals über die offenen Decks zu laufen. Ich treffe nochmals David. Mal sehen, wann wir uns mal wieder über den Weg laufen. Die Welt ist klein. Bryan hat seinen Eisblock hergerichtet, um ihn gleich zu bearbeiten. Leider haben davon zu spät erfahren und bin woanders schon verabredet.



I took advantage of the sunshine to walk across the open decks again. I ran into David again. Let's see when we bump into each other again. It's a small world. Bryan had prepared his block of ice, ready to work on it. Unfortunately, we found out about it too late, and I already had plans elsewhere.

Various activities are taking place in the Piazza again, such as crew-versus-passengers. My mother, my sister, and my niece are playing cards. And Neyda, Alfernee, Yolanda, Benhelda, Kadek, and Charnes are making sure everything looks good again before the next event begins.



Auf der Piazza finden wieder verschiedene Aktivitäten statt, z.B. Crew gegen Passagiere. Meine Mutter, meine Schwester und meine Nichte spielen Karten. Und Neyda, Alfernee, Yolanda, Benhelda, Kadek und Charnes sorgen dafür, dass bis zum Beginn der nächsten Veranstaltung wieder alles gut aussieht.

Heute habe ich die letzte Chance, noch einen frisch gegrillten Hamburger bei The Salty Dog Grill zu essen. Santan, Cliff und Eliyah machen alles frisch.



Today is my last chance to eat a freshly grilled hamburger at The Salty Dog Grill. Santan, Cliff, and Eliyah make everything fresh.

Nevertheless, I miss the Trident Grill – my German "oasis". They always had a bratwurst that tasted like Germany. Sadly, The Salty Dog Grill no longer has it.



Dennoch vermisse ich den Trident Grill – meine deutsche "Oase". Da gab es immer eine Bratwurst, die nach Deutschland schmeckte. Bei The Salty Dog Grill gibt es sie leider nicht mehr.



Captain Heikki invited everyone to the Captain's Circle reception. So I finally got my selfie and could thank her for the autograph. And also Net for helping me with my Pier Runner video. Finally, I even managed to get a selfie with Cruise Director Matt.



Captain Heikki hat zum Captain's-Circle-Empfang eingeladen. So komme ich doch noch zu meinem Selfie und kann mich noch für die Unterschrift bedanken. Und auch bei Net dafür, dass sie mir bei meinem Pier-Runner-Video geholfen hat. Zum Schluss kann auch ein Selfie mit dem Kreuzfahrtdirektor Matt gemacht werden.

Hier besteht auch die Möglichkeit, sich mit allen Senioroffizieren ein gemeinsames Bild machen zu lassen. Davon machen wir auch Gebrauch.

Eine Veranstaltung vermisse ich jedoch, die ich nur von Princess kenne: Habe ich die Luftballonveranstaltung im Atrium irgendwie verpasst?



However, there is one event I'm missing that I only know from Princess: Did I somehow miss the balloon event in the atrium?

Our third man today is Ramin. We lucked out with such a great spot. It's quieter here, and if not all the guests arrive at once, the colleagues from the neighboring service stations can also support our team. Our restaurant hostesses, Laveriza, Chaham, and Gloria, welcomed us to every meal. We'll soon miss their greetings. One more gala dinner. No lobster this time.



Der 3. Mann ist heute Ramin. Wir haben so eine tolle Ecke erwischt. Hier ist es ruhiger, und wenn nicht alle Gäste gleichzeitig kommen, können die Kollegen der benachbarten Servicestationen unser Serviceteam ebenfalls unterstützen. Unsere Restaurant-Hostessen Laveriza, Chaham und Gloria haben uns zu jeder Mahlzeit willkommen geheißen. Bald werden wir ihre Begrüßung vermissen. Noch einmal Galadinner. Ohne Hummer.

Wir lassen uns hier nochmals fotografieren. Es entstehen hier wirklich nochmals sehr schöne Fotos. Die Fotografen haben eine tolle Arbeit geleistet. Wir haben die Kabinen im Fotosystem poolen lassen. D.h. wir können Fotopakete kaufen, die sich über mehrere Kabinen erstrecken lassen. In diesem Fall ging es darum, dass die Bilder unserer Familie in einem Paket zusammengestellt und abgerechnet werden können.



We're having our photos taken here again. The photos turned out really beautiful. The photographers did a fantastic job. We had the cabins pooled in the photo system. This means we can buy photo packages that cover multiple cabins. In this case, the idea was to compile all our family's photos into a single package and bill it as one.



Die Show heute Abend ist "normal" – nichts Außergewöhnliches. Typische Show auf einem Kreuzfahrtschiff. Aber nach gestern Abend ist es eh schwer, noch irgendwie eine Steigerung zu erleben.



Tonight's show is "normal" – nothing out of the ordinary. A typical cruise ship show. But after last night, it's hard to expect anything better anyway.
