Tag/Day 3 auf der/on REGAL PRINCESS in Malaga, Spain statt/instead of Gibraltar

Even though it's still dark, I run my mile. It's easier to walk with my new "Walkman". Unfortunately, it was too cold to try them out in the water.



Obwohl es noch dunkel ist, laufe ich meine Meile. Mit meinem neuen "Walkman" läuft es sich leichter. Leider war es viel zu kalt, um sie mal im Wasser auszuprobieren.

Ich gehe im Horizon Court gucken, was es hier zum Frühstück gibt. Eigentlich ist das Angebot hier oben besser als unten. Die Zapfanlage für Heißgetränke mit dem Kaffee aus Konzentrat gibt es nicht mehr. Nun stehen hier auch die WMF Vollautomaten.



I'm going to the Horizon Court to see what's for breakfast here. Actually, the offer up here is better than down here. The tap system for hot drinks with coffee from concentrate no longer exists, and the WMF fully automatic machines are now also here.

When entering the port, there was MARELLA DISCOVERY 2. The former LEGEND OF THE SEAS. When we set sail, she's still here. And later, we don't meet her again in Civitavecchia, Italy.

As usual, we spend much of the day at the International Café or Princess Live! Bar and drink coffee. Here we also get bottled water to go from the drinks package. Or my Shirley Temple or my home-brewed iced tea. I attract attention because of the way I sit in the armchairs: one of the crew tells me that you can see that I have made myself really comfortable and that I feel completely at ease. Then I did everything right as a guest - didn't I???



Wie üblich verbringen wir viel Zeit des Tages im International Café oder in der Princess Live! Bar und trinken Kaffee. Hier bekommen wir auch aus dem Getränkepaket Wasser in Flaschen zum Mitnehmen. Oder auch mein Shirley Temple oder auch meinen selbstaufgebrühten Eistee. Ich falle wegen meiner Sitzhaltung in den Sesseln auf: einer von der Crew sagt mir, dass man mir ansieht, dass ich mir es richtig gemütlich gemacht hätte und mich rundum wohlfühle. Dann habe ich als Gast doch alles richtig gemacht - oder???

Ich hatte bei Madi vorgesprochen und ihr erklärt, dass mir die Show "Bravo" sehr gut gefallen hat.

Ich drücke heute meinen Unmut aus, dass sie die OCEAN PRINCESS verkauft haben. Wir verbinden mit ihr sehr viele schöne Erinnerungen: OCEAN PRINCESS 2010 und OCEAN PRINCESS 2015.

Wir gehen in das Cruise Terminal. Hier hat sich viel seit unserer Reise auf der NORWEGIAN SPIRIT 2018 verändert. Die Geschäfte im Cruise Terminal haben wohl die Pandemie nicht überlebt. Zumindest können wir noch eine SIM-Karte von Orange kaufen. Das Angebot erscheint uns preiswert.

Na ja... es ist etwas übertrieben. Wir laufen und erreichen die Stadt in 15-20 Minuten.

Unterwegs stellen wir fest: sehr viele Geschäfte und Restaurants haben sich unterwegs an der Muelle Uno angesiedelt. Unter anderem eine Apotheke.

I would have liked to have bought the American cough medicines in Gibraltar, which are not approved in Germany. But they are licensed in Spain, so I purchase some here.



Ich hätte gerne in Gibraltar die amerikanischen Hustenmittel gekauft, die in Deutschland keine Zulassung haben. Aber in Spanien haben sie eine Zulassung und so kaufen ich hier welche.

Es gibt noch ein weiteres kleines Terminal an der Promenade mit fester Brücke. Hier liegt eine Großyacht.

Die späteren Recherchen ergeben: "Nur" die Nummer 31 der Superyachten. Gehört einem saudischen Milliardär. Also kein Kreuzfahrtanbieter.

Sie haben den ganzen Tag versucht, die Spuren am Cruise Terminal zu beseitigen: keine Chance - zumal der nächste Sandsturm bereits für die kommende Nacht erwartet wird.

Wie üblich, wenn wir in Malaga sind: Kaffeetrinken bei Lepanto. Ich sehe, dass sehr viele den Sandkuchen nehmen. Also muss ich ihn auch probieren. Aber wie der Name schon sagt: nur zum Dippen im Kaffee genießbar.



As usual when we are in Malaga: coffee at Lepanto. I see that a great many are taking the sand cake. So I have to try it too. But as the name suggests: only edible for dipping in coffee.

We walk a little more through the city. Somehow I don't feel like going to the Picasso Museum so spontaneously, and I haven't prepared for that now. So it remains with a small tour through the old town. So we walk past the Carmen Thyssen Museum, but it's closed on Mondays. The city prepares for the Holy Week with processions. Interviews are being conducted with church officials in the town. We stayed at the AC Hotel Palacio when we were last here. They have a lovely rooftop restaurant with a nice view over the city and the cathedral. On the way, we notice two street musicians: @CalleNuevaMX. When I sent them some money, they gave me a CD. The Sahara sand is everywhere. Back at the Muelle Uno, we notice the Centre Pompidou cultural center branch, which is known in Paris, France. There is also the Hard Rock Cafe here. And you can certainly eat well at the Michelin-starred José Carlos Garcia. But the prices on the menu shock us a little. Then instead, to the chef's table on board. As I said: we spent some time here before NORWEGIAN SPIRIT 2018. And before that, also with MSC FANTASIA 2009. We went to the Alhambra on NORWEGIAN SPIRIT 2013 and Cordoba, Spain on KONINGSDAM 2016.



Wir laufen noch ein wenig durch die Stadt. Irgendwie habe ich so spontan keine Lust ins Picasso-Museum zu gehen. Darauf habe ich mich jetzt nicht vorbereitet. So bleibt es bei einer kleinen Runde durch die Altstadt. So laufen wir noch am Museum Carmen Thyssen vorbei, aber das hat montags geschlossen. Die Stadt bereitet sich auf die heilige Woche mit Prozessionen vor. In der Stadt werden Interviews mit Vertretern der Kirche geführt. Im AC Hotel haben wir ja übernachtet, als wir zuletzt hier waren. Sie haben eine sehr schöne Dachterrasse mit einem Restaurant mit einem schönen Blick über die Stadt und die Kathedrale. Unterwegs fallen uns zwei Straßenmusiker auf: @CalleNuevaMX. Als ich denen etwas Geld zukommen lasse, schenken sie mir eine CD. Überall liegt der Sahara Sand. Zurück am Muelle Uno fällt uns die Dependence des Kulturzentrums Centre Pompidou, das man aus Paris her kennt. Auch gibt es hier das Hard Rock Café. Und auch kann man sicherlich beim Michelin ausgezeichneten José Carlos Garcia gut essen. Aber die Preise auf der Karte schocken uns ein wenig. Dann doch lieber zum Chef's Table an Bord. Wie gesagt: wir haben ja hier etwas Zeit vor der NORWEGIAN SPIRIT 2018 verbracht. Und zuvor auch mit der MSC FANTASIA 2009. Von hier aus ging es auch schon zur Alhambra damals auf der NORWEGIAN SPIRIT 2013 und nach Cordoba auf der KONINGSDAM 2016.

Unterwegs entdecken wir den Schinkenladen von Jose Puerto. Die hängenden und aufgeschnittenen Schinken lachen uns an. Wir dürfen direkt vom Stück probieren. Ein passendes Souvenir, nach dem man uns erklärt, dass der eingeschweißte Schinken ein Jahr ohne Kühlung hält.



On the way, we discover the ham shop of Jose Puerto. The hanging and sliced hams smile at us, and we can taste directly from the piece. A fitting souvenir, after which we are told that the shrink-wrapped ham will last a year without refrigeration.






The scent of Sabor a Espana lures us in: nuts are roasted right in front of our eyes. You just can't pass by here; you have to smell, taste, and buy.



Der Duft von Sabor a Espana lockt uns rein: es werden Nüsse direkt vor unseren Augen geröstet. Man kann hier einfach nicht vorbei, sondern muss riechen, probieren und natürlich kaufen.

Als wir zurückkommen, haben sie bereits die Prüfungen der Rettungsboote beendet, die sie heute Morgen begonnen haben. Da der Kapitän das Boot nicht um 180° drehen will, haben die Prüfer und Techniker frei und müssen auf den nächsten Hafen hoffen, dass der Kapitän auf der "richtigen" Seite anlegt, damit sie an die Rettungsboote der anderen Seite drankommen.



They had already finished the lifeboat checks we started this morning when we came back. Since the captain does not want to turn the boat 180°, the inspectors and technicians are free and have to hope for the next port that the captain docks on the "right" side to get to the lifeboats on the other side.

Wir essen mittags an Bord. Es wurde nur ein Mittagessen im Horizon Court angeboten. Aber es ist ein schönes Angebot.



We eat lunch on board, and they offered only lunch at Horizon Court. But it's an excellent offer.

After the meteorologists disagreed on how the weather should be in the afternoon, we didn't eat on land anymore but went on board as long as it was dry. We watch how the wind pushes the waves onto the beach.



Nach dem sich die Meteorologen sich nicht einig waren, wie das Wetter nun nachmittags werden soll, haben wir eben nicht mehr an Land gegessen, sondern sind an Bord gegangen, solange es trocken war. Von hier beobachten wir wie der Wind die Wellen an den Strand drückt.









Ich besorge mir ein Deck-Handtuch und mit der MSC-Klammer, die wir auf der MSC SEASIDE 2021 gekauft haben, mache ich das Handtuch fest. So genieße ich die Ausfahrt aus Malaga.

Great music is always played in the atrium. I remember the beautiful evenings I experienced on the ROYAL PRINCESS 2013.



Im Atrium wird immer tolle Musik gespielt. Ich erinnere mich an die schönen Abende, die ich auf der ROYAL PRINCESS 2013 erlebt habe.

Ich habe so eine Tasche zuletzt auf der QUEEN MARY 2 2022 gekauft. Wir entdecken hier das Modell von Princess, das wir auch für Bruno kaufen.

The Sushi Bar Ocean Terrace is also located in the atrium. But sushi doesn't appeal to us that much when we're on the road: yes, in Japan, but not necessarily on a US ship.
