Tag/Day 0 auf dem Weg zur/on the way to REGAL PRINCESS in Barcelona, Spain

Es geht nach Barcelona. Nach vielen Jahren wieder. Wir haben für 79,00 EUR (2022) Festpreis-Upgrade gebucht. Der Besuch der Lufthansa Business Class Lounge ist jedoch eher enttäuschend: Frankfurter Würstchen sind kullinarische Hightlights. Von hier können wir aber sehen, wie die Maschine ankommt und da wir dieses Mal sehr nahe abfliegen, können wir in Ruhe abwarten, bis dass sie andockt.



It goes to Barcelona, Spain. After many years again. We have booked a fixed-price upgrade for EUR 79.00 (90 USD / 2022). However, a visit to the Lufthansa Business Class Lounge is disappointing: Frankfurter sausages are culinary highlights. But from here, we can see how the plane arrives, and since we are flying very close this time, we can wait in peace until it docks.

Somehow I can't get anything out of "Tasting Heimat" (Homeland). I didn't like the dessert. So I took half a so-called Baumkuchen (tree cake) ring from Dallmayr (a famous Munich coffee roaster and deli store) from the offer for Economy Class Onboard Delights for 7 EUR. But unfortunately, the tree cake was so dry on the inside: I had to urgently visit the lung specialists at Bergmannsheil Hospital in Bochum, Germany (a former coal mining area of Germany - specialized for diseases of mining workers) with my pneumoconiosis. But with a lot of coffee to dip in, the tree cake can be endured. Then it would be better to stop by Café Herrdegen in Mannheim, Germany, next time and take it on board: it was delicious and juicy there.



Irgendwie kann ich kann ich "Tasting Heimat" nichts abgewinnen. Ich mochte das Dessert nicht. So habe ich für 7 EUR einen halben Baumkuchen Ring von Dallmayr aus dem Angebot für die Economy Class Onboard Delights genommen. Aber leider war der Baumkuchen innen so trocken: ich müsste mit meiner Staublunge dringendst die Lungenspezialisten im Bergmannsheil in Bochum aufsuchen. Aber mit viel Kaffee zum Reindippen lässt sich der Baumkuchen ertragen. Dann doch lieber das nächste Mal wieder bei Café Herrdegen in Mannheim vorbei und ihn an Bord mitnehmen: dort war er richtig lecker und saftig.

Für Spanien haben wir uns entsprechend vorbereitet und nochmals die Reiseanmeldung ausgefüllt. Es wird bei dem Betreten des Flughafenterminals in Barcelona geprüft.

We find our luggage belt very quickly. But the hall was split up because of Covid-19, and that's why it goes a bit criss-cross. Especially when looking for toilets.



Sehr schnell finden wir unser Gepäckband. Aber die Halle wurde wegen Covid-19 aufgeteilt. Deswegen es geht ein wenig kreuz und quer. Speziell, wenn man Toiletten sucht.

Aber nach dem wir zuletzt eine Stunde in Frankfurt auf unser Priority-Gepäck gewartet haben, dauert es dieses Mal nur wenige Minuten.

Eva, who we know from many trips, is waiting for us at the airport. Unfortunately, due to the Covid-19 crisis, many of their colleagues have stopped working. So the next day, she has her driving ban (depending on the license plate number), so we can't rely on her services this Saturday.



Am Flughafen erwartet uns Eva, die wir von vielen Fahrten kennen. Leider haben viele ihrer Kollegen wegen der Covid-19-Krise die Arbeit beendet. So hat sie am folgenden Tag ihr Fahrverbot (je nach Autokennzeichen) und so dürfen wir an diesem Samstag nicht auf ihre Dienste setzen.

Dieses Mal wohnen wir im W Barcelona. Ich hatte genügend Marriott BonVoy Punkte und wollte gerne mal sehen, wie der Ausblick auf das Cruise Terminal ist. Aber man kommt da nicht schnell weg, weil man immer den alten Hafen komplett umfahren muss. Wir werden schon in der Check-In Warteschlange mit Wasser versorgt.



This time we are staying at the W Barcelona. I had enough Marriott BonVoy points and wanted to see what the view of the cruise terminal was like. But it's not easy to get away from there because you always have to bypass the old port altogether. We are already supplied with water in the check-in queue.

Irgendwie sehr stylish. Nur bei dem Tageskissen: da war ich doch etwas beunruhigt. Irgendwie kommt mir der Mann darauf bekannt vor. Diesen hatte zuvor schon mal in den sozialen Netzwerken bei meinen Freunden gesehen... Die Vorstellung mein Haupt auf das Haupt seines Vaters zu legen, bereitet mir Unbehagen. Ich packe das Kissen zur Seite...

I hate stylish Spanish bathrooms where you can see everything, especially when you need to use the bathroom at night when the room gets so bright.



Ich hasse stylische, spanische Bäder, bei denen man alles sehen könnte, vor allem, wenn einer nachts mal das Bad benutzten muss, und dann es im Zimmer so hell wird.

Wir wollen eigentlich schnell rüber zum World Trade Center, aber die Schlange zur Seilbahn ist riesig. Kurzerhand nehmen wir ein Taxi.



We actually want to hurry over to the World Trade Center, but the queue for the cable car is enormous. Without further ado, we take a taxi.

Somehow I always see the Intercruises lanyards in my mind when I check in in Barcelona. Princess only published its regulations for Europe trips on March 17th and 18th, 2022. So I turned to her. But they explained to me that they don't handle Princess at all and I then politely explained that I've always been handled by Intercruises in Barcelona and that everyone was always so nice and friendly, they found out for me who handles Princess. So I wanted to say thank you. However, Google still has the old address on the Internet. They moved away and the World Trade Center guys were so nice and we looked up the new address. Luckily we now see: The intermediate station of the Jaume I cable car in front of the World Trade Center is closed again anyway. And the previous port bus is now called the cruise bus and no longer starts around the corner closer to the subway and Columbus Column, but from here. Later on on the way to Intercruises we pass a gas station: What does reserve canister mean in Catalan and are the filled canisters accepted as luggage by Princess and Austrian??? The way leads past Yang Ming in Barcelona. But they are already closed and unfortunately there is no mailbox outside to post something for my colleague. But the taxi driver was nice enough to hand it over on Monday. The colleague has previously provided me with important information.



Irgendwie sehe ich immer die Lanyards von Intercruises im geistigen Auge, wenn ich in Barcelona einchecke. Princess hat erst am 17. bzw. 18.03.2022 seine Vorschriften für die Europafahrten veröffentlicht. Ich habe mich daher an sie gewandt. Sie haben mir aber erklärt, dass sie gar nicht Princess abfertigen und ich dann freundlich erklärt habe, dass ich doch in Barcelona bislang immer von Intercruises abgefertigt wurde und alle immer so nett und freundlich waren, haben sie für mich herausgesucht, wer Princess abfertigt. Daher wollte ich mich bedanken. Im Internet steht bei Google jedoch noch die alte Anschrift. Sie sind weggezogen und die vom World Trade Center waren dann so nett und haben wir die neue Adresse rausgesucht. Zum Glück sehen wir jetzt: Die Zwischenstation der Seilbahn Jaume I vor dem World Trade Center ist eh mal wieder geschlossen. Und der bisherige Portbus heißt jetzt Cruisebus und startet nicht mehr um die Ecke näher zur U-Bahn und Kolumbussäule, sondern von hier. Später auf dem Weg zu Intercruises laufen wir noch an einer Tankstelle vorbei: Was heißt Reservekanister auf Katalanisch und werden die gefüllten Kanister als Reisegepäck von Princess und Austrian akzeptiert??? Der Weg führt noch an Yang Ming in Barcelona vorbei. Aber die haben schon zu und leider kein Briefkasten außen, um etwas für meinen Kollegen einzuwerfen. Der Taxifahrer war aber so nett, das am Montag abzugeben. Der Kollege hat mich zuvor mit wichtigen Informationen versorgt.

Als wir wieder zurückfahren, gehen wir schnell die AIDAstella fotografieren. Ich hatte direkt am Terminal E eine offene LKW-Einfahrt gefunden. Aber der Pförtner schließt sie in dem Augenblick, als ich die AIDAstella fotografiere.

And then a quick look at MSC FANTASIA as she sets sail. I should have photographed her while she was still at Terminal A. You can't have everything in life!



Und dann noch ein schneller Blick auf die MSC FANTASIA, als sie ausläuft. Ich hätte erst sie fotografieren sollen, als sie noch am Terminal A lag. Man kann im Leben nicht alles haben!

Wir kennen sie ja von unserer Reise MSC FANTASIA 2009. Wir haben ja zuletzt auf der MSC MAGNIFICA 2021 unseren Kellner von damals wiedergetroffen: Die Welt ist klein!

I asked my colleague from Yang Ming Barcelona for restaurant tips. He likes to go to the Casa de Tapas Cañota for tapas. We booked the table very early like all tourists. But that was a good thing: 10 minutes later, there were no more walk-in seats, and the restaurant filled up very quickly with many locals who had all reserved - even so early. You had to be careful: some things really came individually, and others were a bit larger. But they had been so lovely that we were able to cancel items later when we were full. We fondly remember the meals we shared with Eva on the NORWEGIAN SPIRIT 2013 and KONINGSDAM 2016 cruises: she taught us what to do with the "kit" of bread, tomato, garlic, and olive oil. We found the potatoes the best: they are not fried but baked in the oven. Also, their croquettes are delicious. The other restaurant is near the airport. So today was a better fit since we are staying in the city.



Meinen Kollegen von Yang Ming Barcelona hatte ich nach Restaurant-Tipps gefragt. Er geht zum Tapas Essen gerne ins Casa de Tapas Cañota. Wir hatte sehr früh den Tisch bestellt. Wie alle Touristen. Aber das war gut so: 10 Minuten später gab es für Walk-Ins keine Plätze mehr und das Restaurant füllte sich sehr schnell mit vielen Einheimischen, die alle reserviert hatten - auch so früh. Man musste aufpassen: es gab Sachen, die kamen wirklich einzeln und andere kamen etwas größer daher. Sie waren aber so nett gewesen, dass wir später auch Sachen wieder abbestellen konnten, als wir am Platzen waren. Wir erinnern uns gerne an die gemeinsamen Essen mit Eva anlässlich der Reisen auf der NORWEGIAN SPIRIT 2013 und KONINGSDAM 2016: sie hat uns beigebracht, was wir mit dem "Bausatz" Brot, Tomate, Knoblauch, Olivenöl zu tun haben. Am Besten fanden wir die Kartoffeln: sie werden bei denen nicht frittiert, sondern im Ofen gebacken. Auch deren Kroketten: sehr lecker. Das andere Lokal ist ja in Flughafennähe. Daher passte es heute besser, da wir ja in der Stadt übernachten.
